come on, think about it.

there is never enough time.
health care is RUSHED. it feels like insurance companies tell you how to practice medicine. what has happened to our medical system?

many people have different answers to this question...

as a student I have been experimenting with spending more time with patients to see what type of effect this has on their surgical outcome. what would happen if all of the patients questions and fears were put at bay before surgery? what would happen if they felt like they could openly voice concerns in a safe respectful environment, how would they do?

I have a suspicion that people simply need to be reassured once in a while, to be treated like a person with relevant feelings and listened to. Wouldn't you want to know that the doc repairing your shattered radial head has the time to answer your questions and build rapport with you before you go under the knife? I imagine that without the stress buildup before surgery people would do a lot better after surgery (sans the sky rocketing cortisol levels and other stress hormones).

Isn't this common sense?
