Diptheria Pertussis Tetanus...

Tonight was the finale of the Green Screen, an environmentally focused film class, and I was invited. This class is absolutely why I love Madison. I love everything about this class, and I am not even enrolled in it. I love the people, the concepts, the passion that ignites the conversation in this room of wildly intellectual people.

Tonight the 9 students in the post-grad class would unveil their short documentaries they had been preparing since Thanksgiving. The theme was "Wisconsin; What is so natural about it?" But students were also allowed to sway from this topic if they found an area that simply must be explored.

Alas, the title of my post; DPT. The vaccine given to most children at age 2 months, 4 months, 6 months, 15 to 18 months, 4 to 6 years. This vaccine may be given with other vaccines.

This girl's little sister was given a dose of DPT at 2 mo. She didn't spike a fever but did become rather lethargic following the injection. She was a totally different baby. 2 months later when the family returned for their second vaccine the doc said their baby had permanent brain damage. He administered the vaccine anyway. She went into convulsions and seized until they admitted her into the hospital. Little baby had permanent brain damage that were leave her deaf, blind, severely mentally disabled, and a quadriplegic. This little girl died at the age of 16 from cardiopulmonary arrest.

This is the website which records similar statistics with vaccines. The evidence shows that results like the one above are so rare that you are still better off getting the vaccine then getting the diseases they prevent.

It does make you think though.
