The film festival is here! I can't believe it is already November 7th- this is partially because it is 65 degrees outside! It is absolutely beautiful!! A perfect autumn day, sweaters and shorts- my favorite weather of all time. Friday Lynn and I hopped on our bikes and rode to the Memorial Union (where our reception is!) and headed inside for the Official Kickoff of the Tales from Planet Earth Environmental film festival. We were just in time to find a seat in the packed theatre, and listen for Majora Carter talked about the Greening of South Bronx... incredible story, incredible speaker!

Next we went to "Trouble the Water". It was rated one of the best films of 2008 by Time, NYT. It was is a documentary of footage shot by aspiring rap artist Kim Robest as she and her neighbors are trapped by Hurrican Katrina in New Orleans. It was an incredible story of survival.. and really makes you think about our response to that natural disaster....
After the movie we met up with Anna for a few min, and then found our friend Isaac! We walked back to the Phoenix his home co-op and caught up on stories. I also got to meet his cat Boo. For some reason Fridays have been tough for me after working like a crazy woman for 40-50 hours, so predictably, I pooped out around midnight.
I woke up to the smell of coffee, as Lynn had already gotten up and brewed some as he studied for the LSAT. And! IT WAS 60 DEGREES OUTSIDE!!! AND SUNNY!!!
Tonight we are thinking about going to The Cove... but first, off to a delicious little date filled with Indonesian Food ;)
Until later.
