This weekend was Lynn's bachelor party, in New Orleans, I should mention. I was able to have a full weekend with just Celeste and I. It started with a Friday night of wine on the porch, a wild thunderstorm, and Laotian food. Then Saturday morning, we got up at 7:30 to get ready for an early morning yoga class and went to a 90 min Bikram yoga class to sweat out every drop we had. We walked up to the farmers market and met the beautiful Lexia Frank and her boys, Tavish, Pierson and Dustin. We blew bubbles, chased bugs, did handstands, kartwheeled, and played horsey with Tav. It was so amazing to have Lex right here in Madison... so close I could hug her whenever I wanted (and I did). Her family is beautiful, and I am in total awe of their new baby Pierson who is only 5 weeks old, but already has huge personality. I held him and whispered him secrets about all the fun we would have in the next 25 years. It really brought things full circle to be surrounded with our friends, and really see how much we have all grown into our own dreams and lives. I know we are adults now, but I still feel like an 18 year old freshman. I wonder if that will ever change? Does getting married change that feeling? I will soon find out. Perhaps even when I am 90 I will still feel like a kid, think like a kid. I can close my eyes, and picture move in day in the dorms when we all met... where it all started. Madison is a truly incredible city. I am sad to leave it, and yet terribly excited for a new chapter.
After the farmers had all packed up and people cleared off the square we went down to the infamous Great Dane for some grub, and libations... the party started with a Scotch Ale. I was able to hold Tav for a while when he wasnt busy chasing bugs, and he kept saying "ange, ang, ange, ange" and I thought he was saying ANT. But then he said " want ANGE BOOOON" and I turned around and saw a big orange balloon tied to a table. We obviously walked over and stole that balloon, because it is my job as an Auntie to grant Tav's every wish. After a great lunch, Lex and D and to leave to go on a photo shoot and so CP and I took off too... we had just gotten a text "Duck Blind 430".
We rushed home, met Jeff who informed us of the Fruit Fest on Willy street and the after party at Plan B, then hopped on some bikes and rode over to Nicholas's apartment. We all walked to our van cab who delivered us to the Mallards game just on time. The Duck Blind was filled with fellow baseball/beer fans. We spent 5 hours there, enjoying some delicious beers and good company. We ended the evening with a few great hours of dancing at the best dance club in Madison- Plan B. It did take a bit of encouragement to get our straight/jock/sports loving/manly-man guyfriends into the club, but they came and loved every minute I am sure.
So now the weekend is winding down and I am heading back to work. My Lynny comes home tomorrow, and I cannot wait to see him. I can't wait to have him home with me, to make dinner, and talk about our days, and laugh. It is too quiet here with out him.
I have a few more weeks of work left. 17 days to be exact.
17 days!! Then we are free birds, soaking up the last few weeks in Madison the last few weeks of being engaged.... Only 5 weeks until we are married. 6 weeks until we move to Minneapolis. 10 weeks until Lynn starts law school!
