The HoneyBear Honeymoon

The wedding story... it is still waiting to be told. For some reason, it is still trapped up in my brain, digesting, being savored, being made into smaller more manageable bite sized packages. For now it is too big, filled with too much incredible emotion to be transferred into words.

But, the honeymoon story, that needs to be told.

The day after the wedding Lynn and I walked the FM, strolled through town, opened gifts, and then dove into the packing list. We had an extensive packing list from Living adventure to fulfill before Sunday morning at 9 am when we left for Bayfield. We needed enough gear to stay afloat, and survive the 5 days of paddling. We made a REI run, and then around midnight collapsed exhausted onto the bed- excited about the trip ahead.

Now you may be wondering, why in the world would you choose such an endurance filled honeymoon, why not just head to the beach with an umbrella drink? For many reasons... although on Sunday morning I had visions of umbrella drinks dancing through my head. One of the most important reasons was Lynn and I wanted to completely unplug... we wanted to leave our cell phones, computers, radios, TV's.... all man made noises and beeps and voices behind. We wanted to just be together, just be. We also wanted to be in nature, surrounded by it completely with no way out. We wanted to sleep beneath the stars, wake up with the sun, sleep with the sun. We wanted to smell the pine, the beach, the water... feel the breeze, hear the waves lapping... fall asleep in eachothers arms knowing that it was just us.

We drove to Bayfield, checked into the most beautiful bed and breakfast the Pinehurst Inn. Early Monday morning we grabbed thermos of coffee, and set out for Red Cliff Indian Reservation and the Living Adventure launch point.

We paddled 7-20 miles a day, rested, ate, drank, swam, laughed, sang, cooked, skinny dipped, skipped rocks, slept in eachothers arms.
